Revision as of 20:02, 5 June 2014
Mining cargo ship with a very large moving capacity, achieved with 18 Large Cargo Containers interconnected using conveyor blocks and conveyor tubes
Defenses
Anti Ship Defenses
Although there are a few anti ship defenses surrounding the ship, there are blind spots
- 1 Gatling Turrets, and 1 Missile Turret on top
- 2 Gatling Turrets on each side.
- 1 Gatling Turrets, and 1 Missile Turret on the bottom.
Anti Personnel Defenses
- 1 Interior Turrets inside the Cargo Hold.
- 1 Interior Turrets guarding the Large Reactor.
Tactics
Approach
As of v.1.030 (list), the Gatling Turrets and Missile Turrets are functioning and will shoot you if you are moving with more than 3m/s
Although there are a number of defenses surrounding this ship, there appear to be large blind-spots when heading directly toward the ship.
It appears that a viable safe approach will be to go to where the ship is heading, face it, and head directly toward it.
Alternatively, there is a landing pad on the ship's back (shown in the cut-away below), but it has a Missile Turret directly in front of it... so good luck with that.
Tactic #1 (with a ship)
Align yourself in front of the ship( on its course ) at least 600m away and stay as dead fish in a barrel. Wait for ship to approach you. Align your ship orientation,so your landing gears face bilge of Hauler. Dust off a bit from Haulers trajectory, just enough for Hauler to fly by without hitting you. Now here is the tricky part. You need to perform hard landing. Turn off inertia dampeners if you have them enabled and engage reverse thrusters, but DON'T exceed 3m/s. When Hauler flies by(it should travel at 10m/s), touch down and lock landing gears. If you perform this properly( don't exceed 3m/s on touchdown) you should land and turrets will target you, but won't fire. Now, use your ship main thrusters to stop Hauler - if you turn on inertia dampeners, speed should be reduced to ~1,2m/s. Once you do, access missile turret( which should be visible on top of the Hauler and turn off missile, Gatling and two inner turrets( not listed as group)
Tactic #2 (without ship)
- First, make sure your health is 100%. You will probably need it.
- Then like in tactic #1 keep a distance of more than 600m and move as exactly as possibly in the flightpath of the ship.
- Stop there and let the hauler let the ship come nearer.
- You can make some last position adjustments, but keep your speed below 3m/s all time.
- The turrets have a blind spot when you are really near the front end of the ship.
- When your position is good and the distance is less than 100m back up with 3m/s (but not more). It makes the following timing critical action easier.
- Short before the ship hits you, back up with full power until the ship touch you. (timing is critical)
- to late and you will end like a bug on a truck's windscreen
- to early and you will be shot down like duck in hunting season
- After your touchdown (or smack down, depending your timing) stay close to the ship
- Try to reach any terminal and shut down the turrets
- You should be quite save now, get to the cockpit
- Fly your prize home
Tactic #3 (general)
Use many decoys (can be real Decoy or any block moving with more than 3 m/s) to distract the turrets.
Attack
As of v.1.030 (list), the Gatling Turrets and Missile Turrets are functioning and will shoot you if you are moving with more than 3m/s
The weak spot of this ship is at the back end, between the large thrusters. The main reactor is only protected by a thin layer of light armor. Disable the reactor, and the ship will be defenseless.
Entry
The ship's cockpit is directly behind the right side Spotlight, located on the ship's top.
From the ship's interior, the only way to get to the cockpit is through a small labyrinth of Passage Blocks starting at the Steel Catwalk midst the Large Cargo Containers
There are 3 ways into this ship (assuming you don't blast a hole into it):
Hangar Doors
On either side of the ship, toward it's back, there is a large doorway (made up of armor blocks) underneath large yellow awnings.
(shown above by the large hole through the ship, in front of the Large Reactor)
Entry can easily be gained by slipping through the large gaps either side of these doors.
Landing Area Door
In front of the landing area on top of the ship is a Door that leads (via vertically placed Passage Blocks) to the upper level of the cargo area.
Direct Cockpit Access
Another way to get straight to the cockpit is to use the Grinder on a single Steel Catwalk block behind it (shown in the image on the right)
Salvage
Cargo containers
All of the 16 completed large cargo containers and some of the small cargo containers are interconnected and cam be accessed from many places
Cargo found so far: (the actual Cargo contends may vary)
- Construction components
- Detector components
- Reactor components
- Thrust components
- 25x184mm ammo containers
- Missile containers
Refinery
The refineries are also connected to the conveyor system.
Cargo found so far: (the actual Cargo contends may vary)
- Gold Ore
- Cobalt Ore
- Iron Ore
- Magnesium Ore
- Platinum Ore
- Nickel Ore
- Silicon Ore
- Uranium Ore
- Gold Ingot
Reactors
There are 1 Large Reactor, and 1 empty small reactor.
Cargo summary:
- 22kg Uranium
Amounts may vary due fuel consumption

Changes:
As of v.1.030 (list), the new Mining Hauler has lost it's booby trap but 2 got Interior Turrets. Due to the working weapon systems it gained six additional small cargo containers. The improved Conveyor system is connected to all large cargo containers and several Connectors and Collectors.
