A Military Escort is a type of cargo ship.

Defenses

Anti-ship defenses

This is a military ship, so it's no surprise that it's heavily guarded.

Anti-personnel defenses

The ship's interior has no defenses.

Traps

Ship wreckage after warheads are triggered

CargoShip MilitaryEscort Trap.jpg

This ship has three warheads positioned to detonate in a chain reaction when a reverse thruster is fired.

If the warheads are detonated, there won't be much left of the ship to salvage (shown to the right).

Tactics

Approach

As of v1.23 (list), the Gatling turrets and missile turrets aren't functioning.
So at this time, approach tactics are unclear.

However, the Military Escort has one major weak point. Directly adjacent to the side entrance is an Interior Wall. This weak wall is all that shields one of the Small Reactors powering the ship. A direct hit with missiles will trigger a chain reaction that will destroy the ship. This ship has many other weak points, with Interior Walls used in place of armor, but this one is the most exploitable, as well as the most devastating.

Attack

As of v1.23 (list), the Gatling Turrets and Missile Turrets aren't functioning.
So at this time, attack tactics are largely unclear, save one bit of advice: don't shoot the explosives.

Entry

There are two ways to enter this ship, from each side of the ship. These can be seen on the floor-plan below:

Disable

The reverse thruster trap can be disabled by either:

  • Turning off the offending small thruster from the cockpit or any other terminal. (last small thruster on the list)
  • Removing / Disabling the offending small thruster with a grinder.

To gain access to the offending thruster, use the grinder on the interior wall to the left of the Assembler.
You should then see the first warhead in the trap's chain. Using a grinder on a warhead won't set it off, so you can remove that too.
Then use the grinder on the small thruster, at least until it is disabled, then you're ready to go.

Alternatively, if you're in a hurry, you can maneuver the ship to where you need it by only applying thrust in a forward direction.
This will mean that you need to point the ship away from your destination before you switch on the dampeners.

Salvage

Cargo containers

Each of the two small cargo containers can easily be raided.

Reactors

There are two small reactors accessible from the interior, containing a total of 4kg of Uranium.
