A Commercial Freighter is a solar-powered private ship with many large cargo containers.
Contents
Defenses
Anti-ship defenses
This ship is guarded by four Gatling turrets.
- 1 Turret on the front center.
- 1 Turret immediately behind the first, facing backward.
- 2 Turrets on either side.
Anti-personnel defenses
The ship's interior has no defenses.
Traps
This ship has 2 Warheads rigged to explode with reverse thrust. One at the front of each side of the ship.
The image to the left shows the small thruster and warhead exposed after removing a ramp and light armor block. This configuration is mirrored to form a second trap on the right hand side.
If detonated, the solar panels will slowly drift away from the remaining ship, and all but the forward thrusters will be destroyed.
Tactics
Approach
As of v1.23 (list), the Gatling turrets aren't functional.
So at this time, approach tactics are unclear.
Attack
As of v1.23 (list), the Gatling turrets aren't functional.
So at this time, attack tactics are unclear.
Entry
This ship appears as though it has been built from two similar ships, connected using three rows of interior pillars.
Left module
Entry is obtained via a door in the rear of the module, which gives you access to:
- 3 Large cargo containers
- 2 Assemblers (both are incomplete)
Right module
This module has two levels. Entry to the "ground" floor is obtained via a door at the rear.
The first level has:
- 3 Large cargo containers (one of which is incomplete)
- 1 Small reactor
Toward the front of the ship, there is a small vertical shaft made with passage blocks leading to the second level.
The second level has:
- The ship's cockpit
- 1 Small cargo container
- 1 Gravity generator (behind the cargo container)
Disable
The reverse thruster trap can be disabled by either:
- Turning both offending small thrusters off from the cockpit or any terminal link. (thrusters 1 and 9)
- Removing /disabling the small thrusters with a grinder.
Both left and right thrusters are accessible in the same way.
Simply remove the ramp shown in the "Trap" section above to expose the offending thruster.
When you can access the thrusters, use the grinder on them, at least until they are disabled, then you're ready to go.
Alternatively, if you're in a hurry, you can maneuver the ship to where you need it by only applying thrust in a forward direction.
This will mean that you need to point the ship away from your destination before you switch on the dampeners.
Salvage
Cargo Containers
Each of the five large cargo containers, as well as the one small container, can easily be raided.
Reactors
There is one small reactor on the first level of the right module containing a total of 1kg of Uranium
Ship Composition:
Thrusters & gyros
- 18x Small thrusters
- 2x Large thrusters
- 2x Gyroscopes
Reactors
Miscellaneous
- 1x Beacon
- 1x Antenna
- 1x Gravity generator
- 40x Solar panels
