Information

About

The United Interplanetary Trade Federation is a commercial organization that strives for peace through diplomacy and commerce. While our goal is peace, justice, and profit, we do have a highly skilled military who will protect both our organization and our assets. Becoming a member has no prerequisites. Becoming a member of the UITF Military requires a separate evaluation by Cap'n Taters. More detailed information can be found on our Steam group page or our Enjin site at http://uit-federation.enjin.com/home. We will post more information here every day.

Large Ship Classifications

Ships are classified by what purpose they serve. Within each class of ships are various hierarchies and models. These are explained within each class. Each subgroup can be followed by a number (Example: A1). This number represents the model of the craft. Each ship will also have a unique three-digit identification number after its name, written in braces {}. Identification numbers are only unique within a class - for example, an Ares ship can have the same identification number as a Mercury ship, but not the same as any other Ares ship.

Mercury Class

These ships are used typically as transit and cargo ships. They are sleek and look aerodynamic, and some are even solar powered.

  • Group A - These are the primary Mercury class crafts, outfitted with four cargo containers, an assembler, and a large reactor. Models 1 and 2 of this group do not have solar power, but Models 3 and later do.
  • Group B - These are secondary Mercury class crafts, usually smaller than Group A craft. They have only two cargo containers and gain power from small reactors. Model 1 has one small reactor, while later models have two.

Ares Class

These ships are military and combat-based ships. They usually emphasize defense and armor, rather than speed. All Ares class ships are powered by reactors.

  • Group A - These are primary Ares class crafts, usually in the form of military transports. They are the slowest of all Ares crafts, but boast extremely tough armor and powerful external weaponry. Group A crafts can also be used for transporting large amounts of military cargo, such as rifles, ammunition, and explosives. These crafts are used as battle flagships and resupply craft.
  • Group B - These are secondary Ares class crafts. They move faster than Group A crafts and have moderately less powerful armor and external weaponry. Group B crafts can be used for transporting some cargo, though it can only be in small amounts. These crafts are typically used as heavier support craft in fights, sometimes acting as bombers or (in extreme cases) resupply craft.
  • Group C - This ship designation is used to designate Ares crafts that are both fast and powerful, but at the expense of armor and longevity in fights. The Group C designation is only for Large Ships that fit the criteria - small ships that fit into this criteria are considered Fighters, Cruisers, or Bombers, depending on their mass.

Hephaestus Class

These ships are designed primarily for transport of extremely large loads, mainly raw materials, ore, and low-level components. Hephaestus ships are slow and armored, similar to Group A Ares ships.

  • Group A - These are primary Hephaestus class crafts, and they have the largest cargo capacity of any other Large Ship designation. They are extremely slow but also heavily armored, usually used as flagships during large-scale mining operations. Some custom Group A crafts can even include hangars to store smaller drilling ships. All Group A crafts have gravity fields of a minimum 1.0G as well as at least one medical room.
  • Group B - These are secondary Hephaestus class crafts. Their cargo capacity is lower than Group A crafts, but they are faster and sleeker. No Group B crafts have hangars, though some do have medical rooms and gravity fields. Group B Hephaestus crafts have extremely light external weaponry if any (models 1 and 2 have none), and as such should be escorted by military ships or larger Hephaestus ships.

Station Classifications

Alpha Station

A station can only qualify as an Alpha Station if it is fairly large and can serve as a fortress or primary base of operation in the event of military operations in the sector. The UITF currently has two alpha stations: Hercules (Sector 1 and Federation Capital Station) and Odyssey (Sector 2, Under Construction).

Beta Station

Beta Stations are moderate-sized stations that serve as recharge stations, ship docks, or resupply bays. Beta Stations should have all the amenities of a normal station, including some form of gravity field. The UITF currently has four beta stations: Gemini (Sector 1, actually a complex containing two lesser stations, Castor and Pollux), Scorpio (Sector 2), Zakynthos (Sector 3), and Condor (Sector 3). At this time, all beta stations are currently under construction.

Outpost

Outposts are small stations that serve primarily as trading posts or resupply stops. They do not need to have a gravity field, but need to have a minimum of two locations where ships could dock. The UITF currently has four outposts: Altec (Sector 1), Hermes (Sector 2), Albatross (Sector 2), and Gulliver (Sector 3). At this time, all outposts are currently under construction.

Sectors

The owned space of the United Interplanetary Trade Federation is split up into three official sectors and one disputed sector. Each sector contains the stations listed below, as well as any ships that happen to be in the sector. All ships and stations of the UITF will be clearly marked with a beacon and the cobalt color of the Federation.
