Servers are multiplayer hosts that can join multiple clients on the same map. Players can utilize Space Engineers' realistic features and amazing game physics together. Everything in the game can be assembled, disassembled, damaged, and destroyed. Players can engineer and construct various types of vehicles, such as rovers, atmospheric miners, and spaceships (just to name a few), as well as numerous kinds of buildings (outposts, space stations, and bases).
There are two types of servers:
- Undedicated servers - servers that are hosted from within Space Engineers. These servers will close when the host leaves.
- Dedicated servers - servers hosted with special software provided by KeenSWH. Host is only provided a console view of the server and must join the server as a client if they want to participate. If the host leaves the server it will keep running until the dedicated server software is turned off.
