Overview
Multiplayer is currently included in Space Engineers. Players my host personal or public servers, servers can be either dedicated or non-dedicated with a browser list planned, supporting Steam match making. Players may be given as much freedom as possible when it comes to hosting their own worlds. [1]
Additionally, worlds will be persistent and can be loaded from save files at the server administrator’s discretion.[2]
LAN support is also being planned for future updates[3]
Gamemodes
As of the 22th Febuary 2014 (Update 01.015.014), the current gamemode is limited to the creative mode. More gamemodes are planned and will be added over time. [4]
- Creative multiplayer - Same as the singleplayer creative mode.
Factions
Forum users (and players) have already been creating factions, those factions are purely done on forums and aren't implemented in the game. You can see a list of them at the factions page.
