There are a number of settings that can be changed to affect various ways the game works. They can be set when creating a new world or adjusted on existing worlds by selecting them in the load menu and clicking "edit settings".
They are as follows:-
- Scenario
- Only available when creating a new world. Allows you to select from a set of pre-built scenarios to start from.
- Name
- The name of the world, which will appear in both the load menu and the join menu (if your world is open for others to join)
- Description
- A short description of the world.
- Game Mode
- Sets the world to either Survival or Creative mode.
- Inventory Size
- Only available in Survival Mode. Multiplier for the size of the player's inventory.
- Assembler Efficiency
- Only available in Survival Mode. Affects the amount of ingots used by the Assembler to produce components.
- Refinery Speed
- Only available in Survival Mode. Affects the rate at which the Refinery processes ores into ingots.
- Online Mode
- Determines if your world is joinable for other players. "Offline" means it is not at all, "Private" means it can only be joined with an invitation, "Friends" means only those on your Steam friends list can join, and "Public" means anyone online on Steam can join.
- Max. Players
- Only available if the Online Mode is not "Offline". The maximum amount of players on the world at one time. (2-16)
- Max. Objects
- The maximum amount of small objects (ores, dropped components, etc.) on the world at one time. (16-1024)
- Environment Hostility
- Affects the frequency and severity of meteor storms.
- Asteroid Amount
- The amount of pseudo-randomly generated asteroids in the game world. Important for Survival, as they are your source of ores.
- Auto-healing
- Only affects Survival Mode. If it is turned on, you will gradually regain health up to 70% without the need for a Medical Room.
- Enable Copy/Paste
- Only available in Creative Mode. Toggles whether or not to allow access to cut, copy and paste.
- Auto-save
- When enabled, world will automatically save at regular intervals.
- Weapons enabled
- Determines whether or not weapons will work. If turned off, the Gatling Gun, Rocket Launcher and Automatic Rifle will refuse to fire and display a warning message.
- Show player names
- When turned on, names of other players in your line-of-sight will be displayed above their heads.
- Cargo ships
- Toggles the randomly spawning cargo ships.
