Overview

This block was introduced in V1.074.
It's part of the games Oxygen system. An air vent must be connected to a source of oxygen in order to distribute breathable O2 to the room. Valid sources are for example an Oxygen Generator or an Oxygen Tank.

Usage

The air vent has to be connected to those blocks either directly by it's conveyor port on the back, or by connecting it to an existing Conveyor Network where at least one oxygen source block is present. (see above)

Air vent state indicator

On the front of the air vent are 4 indicators that show the current status of the vent and also deliver some information about the room the vent is installed in.

Game version: 1.105

The number of indicators shows the current room pressure.
1: O2 level < 25%, 2: 25% <= O2 level < 50%, 3: 50% <= O2 level < 75%, 4: O2 level > 75%

The number of indicators shows the remaining room pressure.
4: O2 level > 75%, 3: 50% <= O2 level < 75%, 2: 25% <= O2 level < 50%, 1: O2 level < 25%
Air Vent Front Indicator Yellow.png Room is not sealed against the open space. Air vent can't pressurize it.

Trigger other blocks

Air vents can trigger other blocks with the help of two configurations. The left action is triggered when the air vent detects 100% oxygen, the right action is triggered when the oxygen level drops to 0%, for example after the air vent was set to "Depressurize" or when the pressurized room is breached.

Oxygen ventilation capacities

Game version: 1.078.009

Input rate 300 O2/s Applicable when "Depressurize" option is selected
Output rate 300 O2/s Applicable when "Depressurize" option is not selected

Tips

  • You can pressurize a room without it being connected to the conveyors to the oxygen generator. Simply connect a vent directly from the pressurized room to another vent in the non-pressurized one. Set the vent in the pressurized room to depressurize. The oxygen will be pulled from that room to the empty one.
  • Despite Small block Air Vents being available for small ships, small blocks cannot be used to make air tight rooms. Therefore its not possible to pressurize the cabin or internal parts of a small ship even if completely enclosed with normally airtight blocks such as small armor.
