Classification

The classification of ships is based on tonnage and utility, using conventional wet-navy designations. These classes are able to describe the relative size and functionality. These definitions are by no means strict. The definitions were first suggested in the Keen Forums.[1] Note that the current standards of classification have no strict definitions of fighters.
  • Military
    • Patrol Craft ( < 1,000,000 kg )
    • Corvette ( 1,000,000 - 2,500,00 kg )
    • Frigate ( 2,500,000 - 4,000,000 kg )
    • Destroyer ( 4,000,000 - 5,000,000 kg )
    • Light Cruiser ( 5,000,000 - 7,000,000 kg )
    • Cruiser ( 7,000,000 - 10,000,000 kg )
    • Heavy Cruiser/Pocket Carrier ( 10,000,000 - 15,000,000 kg )
    • Battle Cruiser/Light Carrier ( 15,000,000 - 20,000,000 kg )
    • Battleship/Heavy Carrier ( 20,000,000 - 30,000,000 kg )
    • Dreadnought/Leviathan/Super Carrier ( > 30,000,000 kg )
  • Freight
    • Freight Shuttle ( < 2,000,000 kg )
    • Light Hauler ( 2,000,000 - 5,000,000 kg )
    • Heavy Hauler ( 5,000,000 - 10,000,000 kg )
    • Light Freighter ( 10,000,000 - 20,000,000 kg )
    • Heavy Freighter ( > 20,000,000 kg )
  • Passenger
    • Yacht ( < 750,000 kg )
    • Light Transport ( 750,000 - 2,000,000 kg )
    • Heavy Transport ( 2,000,000 - 5,000,000 kg )
