Beginning as a single planet on the border of UEE space, the Imperials struck out on their own after the UEE seemed to have little interest in aiding them against pirate and Vanduul raiders. After a particularly brutal pirate raid the imperials decided to take things into their own hands. After months of searching and preparing the Imperials launched a small armada against the pirate stronghold and utterly wiped it out . Over the space of a few months several other planets in local systems who had been suffering from the pirates, impressed by the swift actions of the Imperials, pledged loyalty to them, in turn defecting from the UEE.
