Engineering Specialties
With the exception of Commanding Staff (Admirals and Fleet Admirals), all members of the UFAF have an assigned job that has been categorized into individual engineering fields. Each field is recognized as a Command. There are 9 commands. The Energy Engineering Command, the Geological Engineering Command, the Nuclear Engineering Command, the Civil Engineering Command, the Flight Engineering Command, the Transportation Engineering Command, the Biomedical Engineering Command, and the Military Engineering Command. (The 9th Command is the Headquarters Command.)
Energy Engineering
Geological Engineering
The Geological Engineering Command deals with the locating, extraction, and processing of geological materials for use by the Energy, Nuclear, Civil, and Flight Engineering Commands. Officers in the Geological Engineering Command (GEC) typically command Mining Ships, Mining Expeditions, Processing Facilities, and Shipping Facilities. Enlisted personnel typically find jobs as Miners, Geological Engineering Technicians (locating minerals), and Processing Technicians. The color orange is used to denote GEC operations.
Nuclear Engineering
The Nuclear Engineering Command is responsible for the fueling of the UFAF's Ship's and Station's Nuclear Reactors. The Nuclear Engineering Command's mission is essential to the mission of the EEC. An Officer in the Nuclear Engineering Command (NEC) typically commands Refueling Stations, Fuel Ships, and Radioactive Material Storage Facilities. An Enlisted member is usually a Nuclear Engineering Technician who is responsible for the safe storage and internal transportation of radioactive materials. The color of NEC mission ships and bases is yellow.
Civil Engineering
The Civil Engineering Command builds stations for the UFAF. Officers of the Civil Engineering Command (CEC) command Construction Ships, Construction Crews, Construction Sites, And Construction Bases (for building modular pieces.) Officers also plan the aforementioned bases. Enlisted persons work as Construction Workers, Surveyors, and Civil Engineering Technicians (analyze prospective building sites, usually with the help of Geological Engineering Technicians.)
Flight Engineering
The Flight Engineering Command (FEC) supervises the Repair of Ships and Small Craft, as well as the piloting of these ships. In conjunction with the Military Engineering Command and Transportation Engineering Command, the FEC designs the UFAF's Ships and Small Craft. Officers of the FEC command Dry-Docks, Repair Ships and Repair Stations. Senior Officers design ships while Junior Officers are often pilots. Enlisted members are Repairmen and Builders in the FEC's dry-docks. The FEC is represented by the color blue.
