About the Junkers
Since there were populated planets and the trash around them, there were always Junkers - they looked for scrap, re-used it and sold it on one of the numerous black markets. Due to their activity, they were always close to other inhabitants of the asteroid fields - pirates, hermits and other people hiding from publicity or the law.
