Getting started

Space Engineers Wiki is a resource that is edited and maintained by the players. It does not allow anonymous edits. In order to edit pages you must first create an account by clicking the create account link in the top right of this page or pressing the following link: Create Account

After your account is created, be sure to read the rules and head on over to the Community Portal to see a list of current projects.

If you have never contributed to a wiki before or need a refresher, please see "Creating a page" below.

Community Portal

The community portal is a page where wiki users can gather to check current projects that require attention, and to discuss matters related to the wiki in its discussion page. All wiki contributors are encouraged to check this page every once in awhile. It can always be found on the navigation panel to your left.

Creating a page

Creating a page on the wiki is simple. However if you have never before touched a wiki or you aren't as familiar with MediaWiki, it is important that you first get an introduction into it. See the page creation help below.

Faction page

The official wiki offers a place for the community to create a faction page, and interact with others. How it works is that when a faction page is created is that it is immidiately posted publicly on the faction page. The faction can use their pages as they like, be it to store information for their members or for the public to see. To find out more information, please see the faction help page.

Item page

Item pages are blocks, materials, ores, and components on the wiki. When creating a new item page, there is a template to be used so that it may be categorized. While each block varies, some basic rules must be followed in order to keep it organized. More information can be found in the help page.

Mod page

Mod makers have the ability to make use of the information space available on the wiki and create their own mod pages. It can be used to store all their updates, and all other information that they have no other place to keep it. More information to create a mod page can be found in the mod help.

Server page

Dedicated server owners are given the opportunity to create a page (or pages) for their server to store information, rules, events, etc. When using the server template, the page is advertised and shown publicly to others interested. More information on how to create this page in the help page.

User pages

User pages are areas of the wiki that users can use however they wish. They can create as many sub pages of their user page as desired. Anything can be posted in wiki user pages (ship building, mod planning, designs, etc). More information can be found in the user help page.

Creating a translated page

For those who wish to help localize (translate) our wiki, please see the translation help page for instructions on how to create a translated page.

Deleting a page

If a page needs to be deleted mark the page with the {{delete|reason}} tag. This will put a notice on the page so an administrator may evaluate it and delete it if needed. Replace reason with your actual reason for page deletion.

Discussion pages

Otherwise known as "talk" pages. Each page has an attached "discussion" page. This tab is located close to the top-left of each wiki page. These pages allow wiki users to discuss the current page topic with others. To learn how to use discussion pages, see the help page.

How to upload images

It is very simple to upload images into the wiki, however users are required to follow guidelines as well with their uploads. See the help page for information on how to upload images, and the rules associated with them.
