Space Engineers is currently in alpha and these system requirements could change at any time due to performance improvements or additional load from new features. These are the current requirements for Space Engineers as of version 01.143 (July 07, 2016):

Minimum Requirements Recommended Requirements
  • OS: Microsoft Windows 7/8/10 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel Core2 Duo 2.0 GHz (or AMD equivalent)
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT / ATI Radeon HD 3870 / Intel HD Graphics 4000
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 10 GB available space
  • Sound Card: DirectX® compatible on-board
  • Additional Notes: NOTE: The minimum requirements are sufficient to run the game but without planetary features.
  • OS: Microsoft Windows 7/8/10 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel Quad Core i5 @ 3.5 GHz (or AMD equivalent)
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 970 4GB / AMD HD 6990 4GB
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 10 GB available space
  • Sound Card: DirectX® compatible on-board
  • Additional Notes: No internet connection required to play the game

A Steam account and internet connection are required to purchase and install the game.
