Ships will be constructed and navigable by players in Space Engineers. Ships are not limited in the size and scope to which they may be built, however it will be dependant on "performance."[1]

Controls

First Person View from inside a ship's Cockpit

Players will be able to fly most ships from a 1st person perspective and from a 3rd person perspective. If the ship is large, 3rd person perspective will be the only view available.[2] Maximum ship speed is speculated at 300 m/s[3]

Alpha

Large and small ships will be available during alpha.

Large and Small Ships

The differences in Large ships compared to Small ships has been summarized as following:

  • large ships have few additional block types - interior wall, turrets, door, different cockpit
  • large blocks are designed to have interiors, whereas small ships are not made this way (they could have interiors but that's not their purpose)
  • large ships can take more damage (their armor has 5x5x5 more mass and strength)[4]
